Steven was born in Warrington in the North West of England and gained his qualification at Liverpool University in 1989.
After qualifying, he worked in general practices in England, Scotland and Wales before moving to Blenheim with his family in 2003.
He enjoys all the outdoor activities that Marlborough has to offer - Tramping, Skiing, Rock Climbing and Biking. He also follows Liverpool football club and Warrington rugby league team.
Steven has now worked at Durrheim & Associates since 2004. He says: "I like to think I put my patients at ease and work well with them so they can achieve healthy smiles".
Dr. Gemma Hellstrom
BDS
Gemma is a Marlborough local who gained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (credit) from Otago University in 2007. She first worked at Christchurch Hospital as a Dental House Surgeon before moving home to Blenheim. She has been a part of the team at Durrheim & Associates for 10 years now.
Gemma really enjoys cosmetic dentistry and helping people to smile confidently again. She also has a passion for educating patients and helping the more anxious patients overcome their fear. Gemma always aims to make her patients' experience as relaxing and comfortable as possible!
She has a husband, three young daughters and two naughty chocolate border collies to keep her busy outside of dentistry.
Dr. Barbara Tippet
BDS, BSc (Microbiology)
Barbara is a kind and caring dentist who respects her patients’ opinions and works with them to create a dental plan.
She is a general dentist with a particular interest in helping anxious patients access dental care and to overcome their historical hurdles. Barbara also enjoys educating patients, enabling them to take control over preventable dental problems.
Outside of work, Barbara loves walking her dogs and enjoys many types of exercise. She has a passion for growing vegetables and loves cooking organic and wild food for her friends and family.
She says: "I am fortunate to have such a great client base but am also very happy to take on new patients."
Dr. Simone Oosthuizen
BChD
Simone was born in South Africa. She qualified at the University of Pretoria in 1980 and has been in her own private practice full time for 39 years.
Simone's married and has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She and her husband, Mauritz immigrated to New Zealand about 4 years ago.
Simone enjoys rehabilitating a smile. Aesthetics and function go hand in hand. New technology and materials excite her. It gives her great pleasure to impart her knowledge, skill and expertise to create a beautiful smile. Simone strives to stay abreast of new developements.

Dental Therapist
Pip is a local, growing up on the East Coast of Marlborough. She trained in Wellington before returning to Marlborough after graduation.
She has a long history in the Dental Industry working in both the public and private sectors, and currently works part time for Durrheim & Associates at both the Blenheim and the Picton Practice.
Pip prides herself in providing comprehensive care for the adolescent group she takes care of.
She loves being part of the motivated, caring and skilled team here at Durrheim & Associates.
Dr. Joju Kalan Jose
BDS, MDS, FRACDS,MRACDS, M Pros RCS EdJoju was born in Kerala in the south of India and obtained his degree from the University of Mangalore in 1992. After graduating, he obtained Masters in the Speciality of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge (MDS). In 2003 he was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) and in 2008, Membership in Prosthodontics (MRACDS). In 2012 he obtained Membership in Restorative Dentistry majoring in Prosthodontics from Royal college of Surgeons Edinburgh, UK (M Pros RCS Ed). In 2014 He passed the bridging exams (Australian Dental Council), and decided to relocate to New Zealand.He has worked for the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Brunei before moving to Blenheim in 2016 with his family.Joju loves tackling challenging cases, particularly working on full mouth reconstructions, and extractions with implants. His intention is to provide the highest level of care possible, helping you feel your best.Outside of work, Joju spends most of his time with his wife, 3 sons and a daughter. Joju is Passionist in Theology. He is also an avid gardener.
Dr. Jean Strydom
BChD
Jean graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, in 1998. In 2001 he completed a mini residency in orthodontics at Chesterfield infirmary, England. Working in the NHS as well as privately, allowed him to hone his skills in all the clinical aspects of dentistry.
It was during Jean's time as private practice owner in Cape Town that he really found his true passion in dentistry, finding the fields of dental implantology and CAD/CAM restorative dentistry most rewarding and fulfilling. Jean served on the SAAAD (South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry) board for a number of years and presented various lectures during this time.
Jean finds great satisfaction in delivering biomimetic functional and aesthetic rehabilitation treatment of the worn dentition through an integrated workflow. Being in a position to make a difference in someone's life and health is a humbling and rewarding experience which really motivates and moves him.
Ouside the office he is an avid mountainbiker and loves persuing outdoor adventures with his young family.
